“Ajá quiubo” is a coloquial term in Colombia for saying “Hey, what’s up?”.
Ajá, comes from the coastal region of Colombia to mean: “yes”, and used as a feeling of acknowledgement/recognition, while also not really meaning or saying anything at all.
Quiubo, comes from “que hubo” (what happened) and has been shortened and simplified to: quiubo, meant to mean, “what’s up”. Typically said in Colombia, but in other parts of LATAM as well.
So, ajá quiubo! I’m back in Bogotá for another round and some more cultural research.
I seem to go through life cycles more often than the average person, but I’ve come to accept that, although it can be a little tiring (packing, unpacking, settling down, and picking up). Despite it being tiring, it’s also exciting and I know I’m lucky to experience these chapters in my life.
Anyway, this wouldn’t be Andre Abroad without them, would it?
